Privacy Policy

Short version: Schengen Radar does not require an account, does not collect your name or email, and does not track you. If you opt in to push notifications, only an anonymous device token is stored — solely to deliver alerts.

1. Who we are

Schengen Radar is operated by Lucas Guillemot, based in Québec, Canada. Contact: privacy@lucasguillemot.com

2. Data we collect

Website (schengenradar.lucasguillemot.com)

We do not collect any personal information through the website. No cookies, no analytics, no tracking. Your browser may cache static assets (CSS, JS) locally — this data never leaves your device.

iPhone app

The app stores the following data locally on your device only:

Your alert preferences (which routes you are watching)
Your favourite routes and centres
Your language and theme preferences
The server URL you entered in Settings

This data is stored in your iPhone's local storage (UserDefaults) and is never transmitted to our servers unless you enable push notifications.

3. Push notifications (optional)

If you grant notification permission, the app sends two pieces of data to our server:

Your APNs device token — an anonymous identifier assigned by Apple, used exclusively to deliver push notifications to your device.
The route IDs you are watching — for example vfs-toronto:FR:tourism. These contain no personal information.

This data is:

Not linked to your identity
Not sold or shared with any third party
Not used for advertising or tracking
Deleted when you disable notifications or uninstall the app

If you never enable notifications, no data is sent to our servers.

4. Data we do NOT collect

Name, email address, or any contact information
Location data
Usage analytics or crash reports
Payment information
Any identifier linked to your identity

5. Third-party services

Push notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service (APNs), which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not use any other third-party analytics, advertising, or data services.

The Alert Pass (monthly subscription or lifetime purchase) is processed entirely by Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles your payment; we never receive or store your payment details. See our Legal & Subscription Terms.

6. Data retention

Device tokens are retained as long as your routes are active. If you remove all your watched routes or uninstall the app, your token is no longer used. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us.

7. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any data we hold about you by emailing privacy@lucasguillemot.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children

Schengen Radar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
